The Technology
What is TMS? Meet the Ampa One
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) uses targeted magnetic pulses to gently stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. It's non-invasive, requires no anesthesia, and patients remain fully awake and alert throughout treatment.
- TMS has been studied since 1985, when Anthony Barker first used magnetic pulses to stimulate the motor cortex.
- The FDA cleared TMS for Treatment-Resistant Depression in 2008.
- TMS is non-invasive and does not require anesthesia or sedation.
Beyond depression, TMS is also used off-label to support treatment of:
- OCD
- Anxiety
- Smoking cessation
- Insomnia
- Memory impairment
